ROHAN DICKSON  AIA AILA

 

DIRECTOR

Rohan is a highly experienced and industry leading urban designer, architect and landscape architect who has worked on a broad range of large scale urban design landscape and architectural projects in New South Wales, ACT and WA.  His experience provides ae design with a broad view on urban design, architectural and landscape issues. He brings the necessary creative skill and the ability to generate imaginative and innovative solutions that integrate land use, transportation, social and environmental considerations.

Expertise

Rohan has over 40 years experience in consulting with the private and public sectors in Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom. His particular expertise includes:

  • Developing policy direction and providing significant design input into the future development of both public and private sector projects.

  • Overseeing the design, management and completion of major urban design, architectural and landscape architectural projects that integrate economic, social/cultural and environmental considerations.

  • Directing in-house design of master plans and landscape architectural projects, the preparation of development controls and guidelines for specific projects, and has worked in close collaboration with professionals and consultants.

  • Undertaking design reviews on behalf of applicants as well as for Councils.

  • Acting as an expert witness to the Land and Environment Court and is a member of the Parramatta Design Excellence Advisory Panel.

Experience

Rohan’s recent experience includes:

  • Both new and regenerative town centre projects involving the preparation of master plans, town centre strategies and actions plans, DCPs and Public Domain Strategies.

  • Urban land release involving rezoning, master planning and consultant coordination and the preparation of strategies and actions plans, DCPs.

  • Employment places and corridors involving the preparation of design concept and strategies for built form public domain.

  • Infrastructure development involving preparation of design concepts and strategies for the built form and public domain for key public infrastructure projects. 

  • Site specific design guidelines and feasibility studies.

  • Architectural projects including detailed design of tourist facilities, residential and mixed use developments.

  • Landscape projects involving the detailed design of parks, squares and streets

Gabrielle’s background is in Urban Design, Landscape and Architecture and she has worked with Rohan on various urban design and architecture projects over a number of years.  As Practice Director her focus is on design outputs and she contributes through design review of the various projects and their stages. She contributes to the day to day running of the office as well as staff development and is currently working towards attaining Q A certification for the Practice.
